I am a literary and cultural historian based at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). I recently completed the project “The Author as Activist: Literature, Politics, and Celebrity“ and am Principal Investigator on the project “Auden in Austria Digital“ at the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities (ACDH). Version 0.3.0 of Auden in Austria Digital is now available open-access.
My article on the Austrian writer and journalist Bettina Wirth and the transnational practices on display in her letters to Benjamin Disraeli was recently published in Victorian Literature and Culture.
An article, jointly authored with Timo Frühwirth and Andreas Brunner, on W. H. Auden’s correspondence with his Viennese friend and lover Hugo Kurka is available open-access in the Journal of Homosexuality.

I am currently co-editing a special issue, emerging from a two-day international conference on the theme of “Scandal! Exploring the Scandalous: Scandal as a Catalyst of Progress?“, 24-26 September 2025.
Ruth Scobie’s and my edited volume Authorship, Activism, and Celebrity: Art and Action in Global Literature is out with Bloomsbury Academic. On 31 January 2024, we discussed the book at a TORCH Book-at-Lunchtime event, a recording of which is available.

My monograph, Oscar Wilde in Vienna, came out with Brill Rodopi in July 2018. In February 2019 I discussed the book with Mary Luckhurst, Stefano Evangelista, and Dominic Janes at The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities.
