I am a Hertha Firnberg Research Fellow in English Literature at the University of Vienna and the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing at Wolfson College, University of Oxford.
My monograph, Oscar Wilde in Vienna, exploring the reception and cultural appropriation of Wilde's works in the Austrian capital between 1903 and 2013, has just come out with Brill Rodopi. On 8 February 2019 I discussed the book with Mary Luckhurst, Stefano Evangelista, and Dominic Janes at The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities.
Joanna Neilly's and my guest-edited special issue on "The Author in the Popular Imagination: Views from the 19th Century" for Forum for Modern Language Studies has just been published. My own contribution on Disraeli's celebrity authorship can be accessed here.
On 14 May, I organised and chaired a panel on "Literary Celebrity and Political Persona," featuring Kirsty Gunn, P David Marshall, and Rachel Potter - a podcast of this exciting event is available here!
In March, together with Philip Bullock, and in collaboration with OCLW, TORCH, and the "Writing 1900" network, I organised a day conference on "Transnational Lives and Communities". Podcasts available here. A special issue on the theme for Comparative Critical Studies, guest-edited with Clément Dessy, will appear in 2020.
I am currently guest-editing two further journal special issues: "Life Writing and Celebrity" for Life Writing (with Julia Lajta-Novak, forthcoming in early 2019); "Persona Studies and Theatre" for Persona Studies (with Mary Luckhurst, forthcoming in the autumn of 2019).
